I didn’t get to the gym today because…

My grandmother reads both of my blogs (hi Grandma!). She doesn’t comment here but via email and she has been anticipating my going back to the gym. She also knows how lazy I can be and how I also like to blame my laziness on others including my dogs.

I got this in an email today:

“I’ll be watching next Wednesday to see if Elvis ate the alarm clock. HaHa”

I was at Walmart in a long cash line up when I read the email and laughed out loud (enough that those in front of me turned around to see what I was laughing at). My grandma…she knows me well.

I came home tonight to a notice that we are having our ‘annual’ inspection – I have been here since Mar 1/08 and I’ve never been inspected. Maybe if they see my awful water stained (a/c unit leaked last year and subcontract did not fix it right at all), they will tear up the parquet and install a nice laminate floor? Nah, probably not until I move out. I wonder though…what they’re looking for.

1.5 more days until I go visit my brother and father and have a nice long weekend :)

Dog Park Daze

I spent three hours at the dog park today, the weather was absolutely beautiful. I think one of my favourite summer days this year. The boys played with all their friends which seemed to all be there today. I did feel like a door knob today as I forgot their poop bags and I had to borrow 5 (yes my boys poop a lot at the dog park for some reason, it is like a poop magnet!). Here are some photos (taken and tweaked on my iPhone 4 ♥) from the dog park (click for larger photos).

Sunday Ramblings

I had an amazing sleep last night, a first in a really long time. I took my time getting up slowly we (the pups and I) made our way to the dog park. As of last Monday, Elvis now has all his shots including rabies and also has his dog license. Elvis loves people, dogs…well he is getting used to them. Today, there was a marked improvement with him in showing his independence and walking away from me instead of sitting himself between my legs and watching all the dogs instead of joining them.

We then came home and all had a nap and then I got up and cleaned. I vacuumed, dusted, washed floors, ran the dishwasher, cleaned the bathroom, etc, etc. What I need to do and have been putting off is clean out the bathroom vanity (where I seem to horde the various anti aging creams, body wash and perfumes I buy) and as well the storage closet. These both need to be done prior to moving in December which is only 7 months away!

I’m now resting with the pups…what a perfect day :)

I am Getting There

I got my hair cut yesterday, short enough that I cannot throw it back into a ponytail which is what I do when I start being lazy and not caring. That is one step towards caring about my looks. Today was another step as I went for a walk with Bruiser and Elvis (Elvis is my new puppy). Okay Bruiser walked and I carried Elvis as he will not yet walk on leash. I tried, we got maybe 30 feet with me lightly pulling on the leash but I couldn’t see myself dragging him behind me so he finally got picked up. I will keep trying though, I will be more stubborn than him!

The lovely weather is helping…hello Spring, nice to see you again! Though to be honest, I am looking forward to the winter as that is when I should be moving into my new condo that has laundry. I have never wished for ensuite laundry more than I have this past week. Between the rain, mud, puppy poop and pee, I have no clean towels except for two to shower with and on my last set up bed sheets. In a building with 20 floors and around 25 units per floor, it can be quite difficult finding a washing machine.

Tomorrow…another walk. Small step, I know but I will fight the fight. Hopefully the tuxedo cat we ran into on the trail (that is where we walked) is not there…I had a hell of a time getting Bruiser to come back. I guess his recall is not what I thought it was!

Spring has Sprung!

Bruiser and I went to the dog park today (yesterday too, how can one resist this spring like weather?). We spent almost three hours there. Yesterday we found out that some psycho poisoned some meet and left it in the parameter of the dog park and so we (dog owners) decided to use the baseball diamond fenced area instead. There were no issues yesterday but today a city Animal bylaw officer was there and told us we couldn’t use the park as it wasn’t leash free.

One dog owner obviously doesn’t have any public speaking anxiety as she was the voice of about 20 owners as we asked to be allowed to the the diamond as we were told by the directors of the city leash free board to not use the dog leash area. After about 20min and a phone call to the police station to get their okay to use the diamond it was disallowed and we were told that the lease free area had been searched and should be fine.

So…we went over there, into the bowl of mud and continued our play. Another 30min later and Animal services came out and advised us that no search of the area had been done and they were closing the park and that they were allowing us to use the baseball diamond. LOL.

It was a beautiful weekend. Spring is in the air. Now if the snow and lawns would just melt and dry up I’d be happy. Bruiser too…he’s not a bath lover. He won’t fight me, but stands like a statue. This is his second one this week because of the mud at the dog park.

I think I’m going to post this and join Bruiser in his nap…sounds loverly.
