Just wondering, who among my readers has term life insurance? My work policy is not as good as my previous work’s policy and right now the amount would pay off my debts and with a wee bit left over, I’m not sure if what I have would be enough to cover all funeral costs as well. I know that sounds morbid but the last thing I would ever want to do is have my family out of pocket in the event of my passing. So I’ve been looking for term life insurance quotes and just wondering what you pay and/or how much you think is ‘appropriate’?

Hi, Trish – reader from way way way back chiming in here. I am about your age, have some health issues (high BP), and am overweight. Even with this, a term life policy for $350K costs me $65 (USD) every quarter, so $260/year. If you’re just looking to cover debts and funeral costs, you will want to buy much less coverage ($50K? $100K?) and your cost should be that much smaller.
